“Super Troopers 2,” the sequel to the Broken Lizard comedy released in 2001, will head to theaters on April 20, 2018, and will feature the original cast along with director Jay Chandrasekhar, according to a Variety report. The Broken Lizard troupe includes Chandrasekhar, Steve Lemme, Kevin Heffernan, Erik Stolhanske, and Paul Soter, who will reprise their roles as Vermont State Troopers.

The film also features Rob Lowe, who will play Guy Le Franc, a former hockey player and mayor of a town near Quebec, Ontario, Canada.

The cult-classic sequel was funded through a 2015 Indegogo campaign that raised $4.4 million through a 30-day crowdfunding campaign with more than 50,000 contributors. Fox Searchlight, which owns the rights to the film, had set an initial goal of $2 million to greenlight the project – that goal was reached in 26 hours.

According to the official synopsis of the film, the story will center on “an international border dispute” forces law enforcement officials to set up a Highway Patrol station in the disputed area. “Unconventional police work follows, and the result is… Super Troopers 2.”

On the Broken Lizard website, the troupe is encouraging fans to “start rolling, packing or vaping” while waiting for the trailer.
