Green Mountains Kick Off 2018 Cannabis Film Tour!
Cannabis-loving film buffs of Vermont rejoice: My Grind Daily is bringing the CannaBus Culture Film Fest to Social Club & Lounge in Burlington Vermont with cannabis themed movies, stand-up comedy, and synthwave music on April 20, 2018.
The Burlington tour stop promises to elevate its soon to be recreational state audience to new levels by combining top billing features, short films, cannabis stand-up comedy acts, and a synthwave music act. The festival will be celebrating cannabis culture on one of it’s most elevated holidays April 20th also known as four twenty. This year’s cannabis holiday falls on a Friday making it a perfect weekend event for people of the lush Green Mountains.
The festival has been promoted on shows like “Doug Loves Movies”, where it was mentioned on stage with Edgar Wright, TJ Miller, Rob Cantrell and many others along side Doug Benson. This year’s festival is focusing on national mainstream press in hopes to take their tour globally after it’s 2018 US tour. “We have a few countries that have already reached out to us about our tour so it’s just a matter of time”, said David Walters the main Festival Partner.
True to the mission of its inaugural event in Times Square NYC, this year’s festival aims to “celebrate entertaining and educational films about cannabis in hopes to further transform, stimulate change, and share the expanding horizons of cannabis culture in the U.S.”, according to their Festival Director Tim Mattson. The festival showcases a variety of feature and short narrative films covering numerous genres in efforts to “give filmmakers mainstream audience exposure and provide a forum to share their work with distributors and the general public.”
The first screening kicks off at 4pm Friday April 20, movies showcased will include feature film “Pitching Tents” Directed by Jacob Cooney starring Michael Grant, Jim Norton, and Booboo Stewart; A mysterious goddess, a vulgar guidance counselor and a no-nonsense father all want to help Danny figure out his future while he sneaks off to the woods with his buddies for a weekend of girls, beer and THE party of 1984. There are two Programs that feature multiple Short Films that evening that feature Oscar winning celebrities and entries from around the world. The stand-up comedy show features national and local comedians who will be staying true to the festival’s cannabis theme.
Headlining comedians being featured on 4/20 include national comedian Casey James Salengo and Green Mountain native Antenna Wilde. Casey is one of the most exciting young up and coming standups working today. He recently taped a half hour special for Comedy Central that will air in the Fall and he has been featured on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Uproarious, and Tru TV’s Comedy Knockout.
CannaBus Culture Film Fest also features live synthwave music acts that are very similar in style to the music featured in the show “Stranger Things”. The Burlington festival will feature local band Night Protocol. Night Protocol’s sound takes influence from iconic timeless bands like Tears for Fears, Duran Duran, and The Smiths, yet their latest material shares the intensity and mystery of modern synthwave artists like Kavinsky, Perturbator and Carpenter Brut.
You can purchase a Festival Pass for $15, or pay $19 for a VIP Festival Pass that gets you into the festival an hour early, a gift bag, and more on April 20, 2018. Tickets are being sold via Film Freeway.
